Aluminum Flagpoles And State Flags - Nevada
Renowned world-wide for its landscape and cities, including Las Vegas, the state of Nevada has a beautiful state flag that is displayed proudly from objects of all kinds, including aluminum flagpoles, throughout the state. The state of Nevada is the 7th largest state in the United States of America and covers areas such as the "Mojave Desert" and the "Great Basin." This state is considered to be characterized by a severe lack of available water and hence referred to as being the most "arid" territory in the Union.
Interestingly, the very first Nevada flag was produced or made by John Sparks (Governor of the state at that time, back during the early years of the 20th century) and Harry Day, who served as a Colonel. The design of the flag was and is based on the state's natural resources, which include both gold and silver. The color of the banner's background however, was based on the blue that is displayed on the national flag of the United States of America.
Even though believed by many to be the capital of Nevada, Las Vegas is the largest city whereas Carson City is the state's capital. Las Vegas or also referred to as the "Entertainment Capital of the World," is one place where the state's banner can be seen flying from all kinds of residential flagpoles. An ever growing retirement and family city, Las Vegas is the 28th most populous city in the U.S. Established back in 1905, it officially became a city some 6 years later.
A lot of the state flags are relatively young, in comparison to flags of different countries and such. Even though displayed for years from objects such as commercial flagpoles, the Nevada flag was first designed during the 1920-s. The winning design, produced by Louis Shellback, underwent some modifications because of a disagreement between the two "ruling" houses of Nevada of that time. Following the search for a compromise, the flag was officially adopted a little while later.
Even though a compromise was found some 80 years ago, and was signed into law a short while after, a "researcher" discovered that the flag design did not reflect the agreement that was made in the 1920-s. Following this discovery, another law was brought into existence fairly recently, specifying the absolute location of the text Nevada in relation to the silver star on the state flag of Nevada.
